Do you feel paralyzed by anxiety at the mention of a job search? Know that you’re not alone. I’ve worked with many clients who feel anxious at the thought of job searching. Don’t let your anxiety hold you back from your success story. Everyone around us is changing jobs, getting promoted, or moving to remote work. Is it stressful to be a bystander? 100%. We are living through the “Great Resignation” – an age of rapid change in the job market. People are reprioritizing their work goals after living through the ongoing pandemic.
Reminder: Your anxiety and feelings are valid!
It may not seem like it, but everyone experiences job search anxiety at some point. It is completely normal to feel unstable amid the chaos that is our job market. I strive to reduce anxiety as a career advisor. Let’s fight back against your Job Search Anxiety with 3 steps:
1. Create a Plan to find a new Job
Having planned steps in place is the enemy of job search anxiety. You may not be ready to search just this moment. When you are ready, your plan will be waiting. Invest some time in future you. It can be tough to take the first step and create your plan, but it will pay off. I use specialized tools to display a long-term plan combined with actionable next steps for each month. If you need help creating your plan & following up to make sure you’re on track, I would love to be there for you through the process. 2. Bring Confidence into your Future Career
Confidence is key. Remind yourself about how far you’ve come to get to this point. What better reminder is there than a one page summary? Your resume isn’t just for others to see. It can help you remember the skills you gained along the way. As you’re filling in recent achievements, visualize expanding upon your experiences in your next challenge. An added bonus: you will be ready if any Linkedin recruiter slides into your DMs with an interview offer. If you want to save yourself the stress of combing through your resume details, I’m here to help:
