10 min Easy, Natural, & Business Casual Makeup Routine

Stop wearing makeup in 2020? That’s when I was just getting started. With no in-person work or social events, I started thinking more about what I wanted to wear and less about how it would be perceived by others. My grandma tells me everyday that she is shocked at how far I have come with curating my style. Let’s just say dirty t-shirts were a go-to choice and there may have been a mullet stage at one point….

During quarantine, I had extra free time to learn and experiment. I started to love expressing myself creatively through my style. It also helped me escape a rut by trying something new. Don’t get me wrong – there were several growing pains, especially when I had to buy brushes or glue on my first eyelash. Being uncomfortable taught me to develop my inner confidence. By being decisive about my style, I grew confidence in all aspects of my life.

Sometimes I go full glam, but I love an easy natural look too. I don’t use too many high-end products. My makeup is pretty affordable and most of these have been staples over the years.

Here’s what I used to create this look:

Natural beach vibes for Thanksgiving morning

The Base: Starting with a blank palette helps your other colors really pop.

  • Concealer: I use Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer in 22N light neutral. I apply it with my Morphe sponge, using the sharp edge for defined areas under my eyes and the round edge to blot around general areas on my face.
  • Foundation: I’m a fan of a light SPF 15 powder, so my face doesn’t feel too firm. I brush on bareMinerals medium beige to blend my makeup together.

The Tools: This is the game changer.

I learned too late that this investment is really worth it. If you’re spending money on makeup, you want it to look its best.

  • Sponge: The sponge is totally new to me and I learned about it via TikTok. It helps me with blending and creating long lasting looks.
  • Brushes: Brushes are everything! I can’t live without my 10-15 brushes now. Ever since finding them, I don’t travel light…

The Color: Spice it up!

Adding some color goes a long way when you’re face is at its’ base stage. This one is really new to me, so I typically go light on the color, but I can tell it makes a big difference!

  • Blush & Contour: I go mostly neutral on the blush with a touch of red. Contour goes around the top of my forehead into the hairline, the bottom edges before my chin, and a quick swipe on my nose.
  • Eyebrows: I use the Anastasia clear brow gel. Brow gel helps bring structure and definition to your entire face.

The Eyes: the best part!

Eyes are your most important when it comes to communicating and making a statement.

  • Primer: Adding primer to your eyes helps your shadow stand out and stay on all day long.
  • Eye Shadow: This is was my quarantine game changer palette. I really thought getting new eye shadow was a waste until I came across this one. I’m obsessed!
  • Eye Liner: Felt liner is my favorite. It dries quickly to avoid smudges and the brush edge is helpful when guiding the liner on evenly across your eye.

Finishing Touches: Polish off your look with these quick final additions.

  • Eyelash Curler & Mascara: Curled eyelashes are a must. I’m currently loving false lashes, but I don’t wear them for my everyday natural quick look. My Revlon curler and volumizing Maybelline mascara are trusted products I’ve had forever. They never disappoint!
  • Lip Gloss: I love a neutral or light pink to moisturize and finish off my look. My favorite right now is by Buxom. The color is White Russian Sparkle and it’s a great nude pink.
